NEW YEAR'S EVE

I'm sure a lot of you will be celebrating tonight. We don't have a New Year's party here. .but traditionally it's a family affair with the non-stop cooking scenario... a little bit sober this time to sympatize with the worldwide economic crunch and the recent horrible calamity in Southeast Asia. But how do we celebrate New Year's eve in the Philippines? Traditionally, its the same thing. . preparing native delicacies such as variety of rice cakes and homemade sweets, queso de bola, ham( Chinese or american), cakes and pastries, pansit or pasta and spaghetti, native chocolate, chicken, pork and beef dishes and soup.New Year's eve is "media noche" a Spanish term for the eve which literally means thirty minutes before new year or twelve and vice versa. We also have fireworks and firecrackers. .which is now regulated and lesser to due the yearly accidents.. .that despite strict enforcement of restrictions. . they can still manage to light their fireworks and this time. .in our street. .a lot of people are now outside.
For Romeoville residents. . we'll have bola-bola, crispy pata, shrimp dish, special eggplant dish and soup.Junjun's ( Paul Homer's) family will join us later. We wish you all a peaceful and joyous New Year!!!
